MILKWEED SEED POD COLLECTION

SEPTEMBER 1- OCTOBER 31

Scioto Soil and Water Conservation District in partnership with the statewide Ohio Pollinator Habitat Initiative (OPHI) is currently accepting milkweed seed pods.  The pods collected this fall will be processed and prepared for planting.  Seeds will be provided to the district and provided to pollinator projects and homeowners throughout the county.

We are currently accepting common milkweed seed pods only.  We ask that they be dry and fully mature.  Please collect and store the pods in a paper sack as plastic containers will keep moisture and cause mildew that will ruin the seeds.

Pods can be dropped off at our office located at 12167 State Route 104 in Lucasville, Ohio.  A collection bin, courtesy of Waste Management, has been provided and can be found outside near our front door.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or for more information.
