Annual Meeting and Election

Scioto Soil and Water Conservation District is celebrating 70 years of conservation work in Scioto County and we welcome you to join us!  Our annual meeting will include awards for Cooperator of the Year, Farmwoman of the Year, and awards for our Fifth Grade Poster Contest.  Dinner will be served and a special guest speaker will be joining us from Shawnee State University.  Dr. Andrew Feight, local historian, will be giving a presentation on ‘The Three C’s of Shawnee Forest: A Little Known Chapter in The History of Conservation Efforts in The Scioto Valley’.

Tickets are on sale now at a price of $15 each and can be purchased at the office or you can make arrangements to reserve your spot by calling 740-259-9231 (extension 4).  In addition to our regular annual meeting celebration we are also having an election to fill a position on our Board of Supervisors. Both Paul W. Fuhrmann and Larry McChesney are running for the position that is being vacated by Dave Gable.  Term is for 3 years and is a unpaid position that advises the Conservation District and provides input locally, regionally, and statewide about agriculture and conservation issues.  To vote you must be 18 years of age and a resident or landowner of Scioto County.  Absentee ballots are available by arrangement by calling the office.

We hope to see you at the celebration and encourage you to support local conservation because #conservationmatters.
